Gene Expression Data Analysis
Quality Control and Functional Biological Data Mining
Carlo Colantuoni
Using the study of Rett Syndrome (a neurodevelopmental disorder)
as an example, I will cover methods relevant to the quality control of
gene expression data, as well as methods for the discovery of functional
biological mechanisms which are disrupted in a disease/system. The web
accessible
NOMAD gene expression analysis tools (developed in R along with
Scott Zeger and Jonathan Pevsner) will form the basis of the quality
control issues. The analysis of differential gene expression within
functional gene subsets defined by online databases (using the DRAGON
database tool developed by Chris Bouton) will begin the
discussion of how to derive functional biological data from gene
expression data.
